American Samoa - Governor's Office - worked with the Governor to present tourism investment opportunities in American Samoa
to potential investor groups.
American Samoa Department of Commerce - Tourism Master Plan. Led a multi-disciplinary consulting team of land
planners, architects, financial analysts, and tourism experts to create a comprehensive Tourism Master Plan for American Samoa.
The Master Plan includes a Tourism Framework that identified the current and potential tourism resources and the inter-relationship
between an increase in air arrivals and the required infrastructure of hotel beds, restaurants, and supporting infrastructure; master
land plan of the key sites on the various islands as they relate to current and potential tourism development; a detailed Visitor
Attraction Plan that outlined the required marketing and promotional efforts, as well as air lift into the terriotry, to deliver on the
target visitor arrivals over a five year period; and detailed site plans and feasibility analysis for three sites that were selected for
development, which included a water-front lodge, marina and harbor facilities, and eco-tourism in an outer island. This project is
currently in progress.
Aspen Skiing Company, CO - conducted primary market research of the current customers and reviewed strategic opportunities
to enhance revenue through better cross-promotion among the separate ski area.
BayBank of Massachusetts - acted as the asset manager for this bank-owned resort asset, which included overall responsibility
for the resort operations, hiring a new General Manager and reorganizing the staffing structure. As a separate project, created the
marketing materials to sell the resort to private investors and then conducted the sales process and facilitated due diligence with
the preferred investor. The resort was sold successfully at a favorable price.
Belknap County Recreation Area, NH - for this government-owned recreation area (Gunstock), reviewed the business plan and
identified opportunities to enhance revenues to help the resort become financially sustainable.
Discover Baja, Mexico - worked with the tourism organization and the Baja Meeting Point organizers to present an economic
assessment of the second home real estate market in Baja for customers living in the South West United States.
ecoSign, British Columbia, Canada - conducted a market analsyis and demand analysis for the need and timing of additional
conference center space based on the planned absorption of Telluride real estate development.
Intrawest Destination Resorts, British Columbia, Canada - reviewed the strategic growth opportunities for their Colorado resort and
identified the gap etween the size of the mountain and the permitted bed base at the resort. This led to the new strategy of
actively marketing to potential customers who were staying in local area lodging as a means to expand the active bed base
and thereby attract incremental skier visits.
Jiminy Peak Resort, MA - over a 2-year period of working on retainer for this resort, focused on all aspects of the business
model to improve profitability and efficiency; established operating procedures as part of the Total Quality Management process;
and reviewed business growth opportunities including acquisitions, real estate development, summer programming, and new
services/amenities.
Keystone Mountain Resort, CO - reviewed the customer service levels provided in all departments by acting as a
“mystery shopper” on various occasions throughout the season. The program was part of an overall guest satisfaction
program that also included weekly guest satisfaction surveys. (conducted while at Sno.engineering)
Maravia, La Paz, Baja Sur Mexico - conducted a market assessment and financial feasibility study of a proposed resort
real estate, golf, club, and marina development in Baja, Mexico.
Mountain Creek, NJ - based on extensive geo-demographic research, developed an entirely new marketing growth strategy
that focused the marketing efforts on the five surrounding counties rather than in the crowded New York City market place.
This strategy was executed and has been pivotal in the resort hittingaggressive growth targets.
Mount Hood Meadows, OR - strategic review of the product mix and revenue management practices to identify opportunities
for revenue enhancement and to better meet consumer demand.
Parks Canada, Canada - reviewed customer visitation and geo-demographic data to provide key insights and recommendations
to the field managers of the various mountain parks. Conducted in conjunction with P.J.Osler & Associates.
Steamboat Ski & Resort Company, CO - conducted an assessment of private clubs at mountain resorts and then provided
a review of private alpine club options, with location and potential sizing, to be developed at Steamboat.
Stowe Mountain Resort, VT - as part of the Master Plan development, created the financial pro forma for the real estate
development project at the resort, in conjunction with the growth model for resort operations.
Stratton Mountain, VT - reviewed the competitive landscape for private alpine clubs and presented the findings to
management. Conducted market research of the targeted homeowner market to assess interest levels for membership and
pricing thresholds. Prepared an economic feasibility study for the development of the private club. The club was executed
almost entirely to-plan and was a huge success by selling out all of the memberships prior to the start of construction.
Trimingham, NY - provided resort and timeshare industry expertise to this financial advisory firm regarding a distressed
Las Vegas-based time-share asset that was non-performing on its outstanding loans.
Whitetail Resort, PA - created the start-up marketing plan for this ski area while it was still in the planning stages. The plan was
later implemented as the resort was built and attracted both a ski crowd and a conference business to off-set the short ski season.
